CRAB GRAB
We are a two-location brand, located simultaneously in Bend, Oregon and Ventura, California. This phenomenon allows for a simultaneous expedition to the Northwest powder, winter waves and summer Mt. On the Hood. We strive to make the world's best party products and magical mittens, while enjoying every minute of running this business/shop/thing we call Crab Grab. We love what we do and appreciate your support!
In 2010, when I was running HCSC, I wanted to make a product that would inspire skiers to sort of “refocus” on snowboarding tricks with style. The days when truly unique capturing was somehow replaced by just mute capturing and spin-corking until you land; it became our original Grab Rails. Seeing them on your board is a great reminder of how amazing a simple poked out capture can feel. Other traction type stuff was a natural extension of this, so Scott Stevens and Jesse Burtner became our first two team counters. We spent all our summers at Mt. At Hood, and the brand and products were born from this environment. By the summer of 2011 we had our first prototypes and the rest is history. Or at least it will be one day.
Crab Grab believes that the level of modern professional snowboarding is so hard to relate to most people. It's absolutely amazing how far things have progressed and it's fun to watch, but it's very hard to imitate. You don't really go to your local mountain and do triple caps, but jumping a few feet in the air from a hump and grabbing a snowboard makes sense to anyone. I love that Crab Grab can inspire new and old snowboarders to enjoy the simple, stylish, creative fun that is the foundation of snowboarding.
We are very lucky to have so many incredible calculators supporting our brand. Every time I see Crab Grab on someone's board, or our crabs in their hands, I feel so honored and lucky. Aside from making products that work, I think traction is such a small category for most bigger brands that it becomes a disgusting afterthought. Over the years, the term "stomp pad" itself became synonymous with something badass you'd see on a rental board, and nobody used them anymore. Today, we offer a well-designed selection, and calculators will once again experience the benefits of well-designed Traktion.
